In this role, the Systems Administrator III will effectively plan, install, configure, and administrate CHFA’s technology systems, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and organizational policies. They will participate in projects to deploy, upgrade, or reconfigure systems and provide support by responding to production issues, collaborating with other Admins, Developers, or Database Administrators, and serving as an escalation point for various server, application, or endpoint-related issues. Additionally, they will be a primary participant in the Release Management lifecycle, overseeing Azure DevOps infrastructure and participating in software and code deployments.
 
essential functions

  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure system availability and reliability.

  • Perform software deployment duties and lead Change Advisory Board meetings and discussions.

  • Perform routine systems administration tasks such as server or application setup and upgrades, configuration changes, and preventive maintenance.

  • Provide technical support for advanced incidents and requests.

  • Design and deploy technology solutions to meet CHFA’s strategic and tactical needs.

  • Ensure IT systems and procedures meet operational, performance, and security goals, creating moderately complex system scripts and programs.

  • Enhance processes and procedures for the release process and act as the primary point of contact for database administration vendor activities.

  • Ensure IT systems, procedures, and tools are meeting operational, performance, and security goals.

  • Work collaboratively with Application Development, Business Intelligence, Help Desk, Information Security, and IT Infrastructure teams to ensure system availability and reliability.

  • Perform Software Migration duties, including the management and control of the staging and production environments.

  • Lead Change Management meetings to ensure tasks are scheduled and documented.

  • Develop processes and procedures to define and control the release process.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for database administration vendor activities.

  • Research new software development and configuration management methodologies and technologies.

  • Create and maintain system documentation, including that which is required to deploy and maintain systems.

 
knowledge, skills, and ability

  • Advanced knowledge of current Microsoft technology stack and environments, including Windows, IIS, SQL, AD, and GPO.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft cloud technologies, including Azure IaaS, M365, Entra ID, and related offerings.

  • Knowledge of security concepts and techniques within an enterprise environment

  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps, Visual Studio, GitHub, or other release-related applications and platforms

  • Ability to create moderately complex system scripts and programs.

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills with the ability to establish rapport with persons of diverse backgrounds.

  • Ability to identify, coordinate, organize, and prioritize work items.

  • Ability to determine root cause and solve system functional or performance issues through best practice or innovative means.

  • Ability to lead weekly change advisory meetings and perform release activities for custom applications and database scripts.

 
 
experience/education

  • Minimum of five (5) years of previous work experience in Systems Administration or related roles

  • BS Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field preferred

  • Industry certifications such as ITIL, MCP, MCSE, and Networking+ are a plus.

  • 2+ years of software release management experience; Agile project management experience preferred.

physical environment
The incumbent in this position will primarily work in a hybrid office environment, which requires the use of a computer at a desk the majority of the time. Must have sight and the ability to use a computer, with or without assisting devices. Incumbent is required to work maintenance weekends as scheduled, with some after-hours work as needed to support deployments or incident response.
 
hiring range
$92,000 - $134,000 plus annual bonus
